Too many steps to add a photo to a text

Why are there now so many steps to add a photo to a text? Hit the + key, then select gallery (it isn't the gallery, it is the camera I want), then touch the mini camera shutter button, or the arrows to enlarge so you can actually see what you are taking a picture of. TOO. MANY. STEPS. What happened to +, camera, done? Why does Samsung feel compelled to fix what isn't broken?

What about this camera button? 2 clicks bring you to a full-size camera

mine does not open into a full-size camera with 2 clicks, but at least one click helps. Thanks.

Correct, if the photo is already in your gallery. I am referring to taking a new picture for a text I am already in.

What texting app are you using, that might be the problem...samung messages and Google messages, literally 2 button clicks from inside a text and camera is open full screen.
