Galaxy S22

Hi, I have an unlocked s22. I have not received Firmware updates since mid 2024. I have checked this forum and tried various solutions

- tried the update function

-  tried smart switch, but it says no updates available

- i removed the sim, then tried update, but no update

- i even contacted Mint, my carrier, but they said it is a samsung thing

I understand i might not actually want ui7 as it seems to be problematic.  But there should be some updates since march 2024, right? My version is S901usqs4dxbg. I bought it refurbished from backmarket.com.

Anyone got any other ideas?

Thanks

You may need to take it to a service center to have the firmware flashed to it. Make sure you back up everything prior to doing so.

@Members_6s4OAB1 Since your model, S901u, ends in U, it is a carrier device. It sounds like it is carrier unlocked. But it is not a factory unlocked device.

Usually the issue is that these devices have carrier A's firmware installed. But the user is using carrier B. When the device it looks for an update to carrier A's firmware but it will never find it while the device is using carrier B.

The solution is to reflash the device with your current carrier's firmware.

Thanks for the advice! I will contact backmarket first, as this seems to be something that should be clearly disclosed when selling the phone.

Same thing happened to me on my Galaxy tab S10 5G...
It turned out that I needed to activate my device with a T-Mobile sim card...
Seven months with no updates on my brand new Galaxy tab until I put an active tmobile sim card in slot.
