Ever since the One UI 7 update, I've been forced to use the annoying page style tabs instead of my years-long choice of square single column grid. If I can change it via Good Guardian, Lock apps, etc etc please tell me.

You're absolutely right โ€” with One UI 7, Samsung changed the Recent Apps (Overview) layout to a paginated, horizontally swiping "page style" format, removing the older single-column vertical list or grid view that many users preferred. Unfortunately, Samsung has not yet provided a native option to revert to the previous style โ€” even through Good Lock or Good Guardians.

But hereโ€™s what you can do:

---

Current Status (as of One UI 7):

Samsung removed the alternative Recents layout (like the grid or vertical scrolling list) that was previously available in some One UI versions or via developer options.

The new horizontal card-style layout is now the default with no built-in toggle to switch back.

---

Solutions & Workarounds

1. Check Good Lock > Home Up Module

Samsungโ€™s Home Up module (within Good Lock) used to offer Task Changer, which allowed switching between different Recents layouts (Grid, List, Stack, Slim List, etc.).

Install Good Lock from Galaxy Store (if not already)

Open Good Lock > Home Up

Tap Task Changer

If available, try changing the layout (Grid/List/etc.)

However: In many cases with One UI 7, Task Changer no longer shows layout options โ€” Samsung quietly removed or disabled them on newer updates or devices.

Still worth checking โ€” some regional builds or slightly older Home Up versions still retain it.

---

2. Roll Back Home Up Version (Optional & Risky)

If you're comfortable with a workaround:

Uninstall updates to Home Up (or install an older version via APK)

This may restore Task Changer layout options, temporarily

Requires disabling Galaxy Store auto-updates and can lead to instability

Use caution and only do this if youโ€™re familiar with side-loading and APK management. Not officially supported.

---

3. Use a Third-Party Launcher or Gesture App

If the goal is better multitasking control or Recents layout:

Try Nova Launcher or Niagara Launcher

Combine with gesture apps like Fluid Navigation Gestures

You wonโ€™t fully replace the system Recents screen, but you can simulate app switching behavior more efficiently

---

Final Note

Samsung removed this customization likely due to One UIโ€™s alignment with Android 14's default behavior. But user feedback has been strong, and thereโ€™s a chance theyโ€™ll reintroduce Recents layout options in a future Good Lock or Home Up update โ€” especially if users keep requesting it.

---

Bottom line:
As of now, there is no official way to restore the single-column or vertical Recents layout in One UI 7. Good Lockโ€™s Task Changer is your best shot โ€” check if it's still available on your version of Home Up. Otherwise, third-party launchers or rollback workarounds are your only options.

Let me know if you'd like help checking your Home Up version or exploring gesture-based alternatives.
