Why do I receive a duplicate text message when I send myself a message?

I have a Samsung S21+ on Android system. Everything I send myself a text message, I receive the text message twice. I tried going into the chat settings on Samsung Messages but the chat settings is not functioning. Can anyone provide me an answer to this problem??? This the third time I've posted this message.

I imagine one would be an outgoing message and the other would be incoming.

Just curious - why are you messaging yourself?

This has always been how it works. I have done this on numerous occasions, for copy and paste purposes only. It is where I store instructions that I repeatedly have to use in this app. Faster than using notes or clipboard.

Huh, I just use the clipboard in edge panels.

Sometimes I use it to forward to answer my tech challenged friends and family. I am pinned to the top in Google Messages.

I am always having to fix there problems through text messages, with screenshot visuals. You can't do that with clipboard on edge panels. Too many taps.

I use the clipboard edge panel.  It stores an infinite number of clips that can be pinned for permanence while clearing all others.

It doesn't store the screenshots that are embedded in the text , I just press forward.

I do the edge panel clipboard too, sometimes I accidentally clear out the pinned stuff.

I typically do that to save an article or post that I wish to ready later.

If you delete one of the chats, do they both get deleted?  Have you cleared the app data?  This will refresh the app and you will have to redo all your settings, but will not delete any messages.  I just tried sending myself a text, and I only got one message, no duplicate chat.
