Galaxy S21I have the S21 ultra. An update yesterday Canceled my ability to view "only calls" in my Phone app: Recents. Now I can only see "all calls and messages". Or Only rejected calls; only sent calls; and so on. But not all calls. What happened?
FYI, I contacted Tech Support. And they tried to have me clear out my app cache and data. And do other weird things that have nothing to do with this. And then he admitted that it was a possible update issue or poor signal strength. He had no idea what he was doing.

Galaxy S21It sounds like after the recent update on your Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, the Recents tab in your Phone appchanged, and you no longer see the option to view "only calls". Instead, it seems like you're stuck with filters like "Only rejected calls," "Only sent calls," or "All calls and messages."
This issue is likely due to changes made in the latest software update, which might have unintentionally affected how the Recents screen works. Here's what you can try to restore the "Only Calls" filter:
Check for Further Updates: Sometimes a new update can cause issues, but they are often patched in subsequent updates. Go to Settings > Software update > Download and Install to ensure you have the latest version installed.
Reset App Preferences: Sometimes changes to settings, especially after an update, can affect the behavior of apps. You can try resetting app preferences to restore defaults for the Phone app and others:
- Go to Settings > Apps > tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner > Reset app preferences.
- This will reset app settings (without deleting data) and might restore the option you're missing.
Clear Cache of the Phone App: Even though Tech Support suggested clearing the cache and data (which didn't help in your case), it’s worth trying again as a first step before diving into more complicated solutions:
- Go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Storage > Clear Cache.
- Do not clear data unless you want to reset the Phone app entirely.
Use the Dialer for Recents: On some recent updates, the dialer interface changed. You can try swiping left or right to see if there’s another view or section for all calls that’s separate from the messages list.
Try Safe Mode: Boot your phone into Safe Mode to rule out any third-party apps causing interference:
- Press and hold the Power button, then tap and hold Power Off until the Safe Mode option appears.
- Once in Safe Mode, check if the issue persists with the Phone app. If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, it might be caused by a third-party app, and you may need to uninstall recently installed apps.
Contact Samsung Support Again: Since this seems like a post-update issue, it’s possible that other users are experiencing the same thing. If none of the above works, consider reaching out to Samsung Support again and ask them to check for any issues related to the update, as they may be aware of a broader problem.
