Not receiving Messages from iPhone users

Phone won't recieve iphone users messages. But when I turned that setting off and texted my old phone to my new Samsung Galaxy S21 it seemed to work and I was getting messages. Is there a way around that? Does the setting in iphone have to remain off?

Did you recently switch from and iPhone to a Galaxy phone and transfer your number to the new phone? If so, iMessage might be the problem here.
