Galaxy S21

I’ve been a loyal Samsung customer for years, with multiple Samsung products including appliances, monitors, and TVs. I own a Galaxy S21 Ultra and am extremely disappointed that major Android updates will stop at Android 15.

The phone is still fully capable, and ending updates this early feels arbitrary, especially when newer Samsung devices get longer support. This decision makes me seriously rethink buying future Samsung products. Long-term software support is a major factor in customer trust and brand loyalty — please reconsider extending OS updates for the S21 series.

Perhaps the moniker "Honored Contributor" means we know a thing or two or three. We didn't get that title for being lapdogs to Samsung. We got that title from our knowledge of how things work. Why are we usually the ones to comment on statements like this? We know that it takes more than just Samsung to offer extended software for future OS updates. You also have to get carriers and component manufacturers, such as Qualcomm (for SoC, Modem, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth), to be on board to ensure your device continues to work seamlessly with driver updates. Qualcomm recently announced they will support newer chips for eight years. They will not, however, make it retroactive; no company will do that.

While you might think companies should be magnanimous, that just isn't how the world works.

Looks like you're new here. Honored Contributors are highly active users with a history of providing solutions to technical problems.

They don't work for Samsung, they aren't paid by Samsung, and they aren't required to defend Samsung.

If you stick around long enough, you'll see that some Honored Contributors are sometimes critical of Samsung or use Non-Samsung devices as primary or secondary phones.

You are allowed to be upset that your device doesn't have a longer shelf life as far as updates, but as @Robin621k mentioned, there are more moving parts than just Samsung here.

Honored contibuter could just be someone who throws up posts and gets lucky sometimes but you can be professional and be right. Thats the way you keep gpt from making this a bot and nobody wants that. There are some that dont know so chill out or there might be a troll near. Its still not right Samsung why dont we get security patches or something like that.

So what if you never saw an update then how is that okay. Personal opinion will never matter nor will it be considered but this board is the best thing some people have. Besides what is the difference between a new galaxy and an updated one... About 2 grand thats just the truth but security is the issue when you miss updates you never see patches so unless you can handle the problem yourself then you have a huge problem. Im just saying. Basically when you unlock the phone then you stop its progress. Unless you have odin or likewise

If you never saw an update, that's on you for not investigating sooner.  Do you have a carrier locked phone which you unlocked and then moved to another carrier?  It may be looking for a SIM from the original carrier for your updates.  You can use Smart Switch with your phone connected to a computer (borrow one if  you have to) and try to force the update.  If you want, you can go to a uBreakiFix location near you, pay a fee and have them flash your phone to unlocked firmware and then you will likely get all the updates you have missed.  No one is going to extend your support cycle because you did not do your due diligence in getting your updates.
