Galaxy S PhonesYou cannot stop the automatic updates, they are compulsory and, as @Oxford said, you agreed to them when you accepted the TOS and EULA.

Galaxy S PhonesYes, change can be difficult, but up-to-date security and continued/extended software support are very desirable things that Android phones lacked until recently.

Galaxy S PhonesThat doesn't work either. YOU CANNOT stop the updates. It will install on it's on regardless of what auto update settings you turn off. These are not the phones of the old days, UPDATES ARE MANDATORY. And, also, betas don't download automatically so any update that comes down is the "stable" version. That some updates glitch on some people's devices is due more to user action/inaction than the update itself. The more you delay (if you can) intermediate updates, the more chance of the major update going awry. Stop giving bad advice.

Galaxy S PhonesThe idea that software updates ought to be avoided or are somehow detrimental is simply incorrect, not to mention dangerous from a security standpoint.
