I would venture to guess that the camera bar a necessary evil to combat camera bump wobble. When you have a device that thin, and a camera module that large, you have to do something to make it lay flat on a table.
Beyond that, if the design of the iPhone Air is any indication, all of the compute is likely to be shoved into the top bar, with the lower portion being just battery + magnets.
Pure speculation here, though.

From what I can tell the s26 has a noticeable camera bump most likely due to thinner design

If we are concerned with "copying," Pixel was the first to do the camera bar/visor, arguably Apple is "copying" Pixel.
Round and round it goes. Industry trends are Industry trends.

I mean Samsung's CEO came out and apologized for being so reductive last year. Right after the Galaxy buds and watch came out their CEO literally apologized. Of course it's not a problem that companies borrow ideas from each other but Samsung has been cartoonish about it. Titanium, headphone jack removal, super slow charging, SD card removal, identical looking watch identical looking earbuds... (After years of having independent looking wearables that were perfectly fine)
