OK, this might have been covered before haven't checked. But here goes:

Does Samsung have ANY plan to allow turning off 2G access in their phones?
Being 2G is fast becoming a serious attack vector.

All phones with 3G or higher connectivity can also connect to 2G. Hackers using a FBS (False Base Station) aka Stingray attack can force phones to downgrade their connection to the unsecure 2G protocol then perform man-in-the-middle attacks, send text messages with bogus originating numbers and links to download malware, that appear to be from legit senders. The best way to secure phones against these threats is to simply disable them from making 2G connections.

Users NOT being able to prevent their phone from being tricked into making 2G connections is a serious security vulnerability that all manufacturers and carriers should be addressing with high priority.

True but I only know of one carrier that even has 2g capacity that I would say isn't used and eith 3g turned off I don't see any 2g being used

It's not about the carrier. It's about the phone being able to be connected to any 2G "towers". Bad actors are using special hardware to make phones think they are making legit connections to their carriers via 2G towers, but in fact the connections aren't to the real carrier. This gives bad actors a way to make your phone do things that they shouldn't be able to do.

Not all phones have this setting enabled yet. Not having the setting is a serious security issue.
