How to retrieve original picture that was edited?

Does anyone know how to retrieve an original picture that was edited? I forgot to 'save copy', and now the original is gone & I don't know where to look for it!? Thank you in advance!

In Gallery

1. Open the picture that was edited.
2. Click the pencil icon. 
3. Click the text Revert at the top of the screen. Now you have the original.
