When trying to scan a document, using the camera app, it first tries to detect text in the document.

This causes the unpleasant effect that I can no longer scan document that the OCR failed to detect text in them.

I really liked the document scanner, and used it on regular basis, but now I have to go out of my way to please the OCR.

Can you add an option in the settings to disable the OCR check in the scan menu?

I don't understand what you mean. When I tap the scan button, it detects the text and highlights it for copying into another application.  Then there is the scan button on the lower left, to scan the document.  I have tested all types of documents and the text is always detected first.  If documents contain no text,  the icon for scanning text and documents doesn't even show up and it's just a photograph, so you can take a photograph of the document.  If it's not detecting the text in a document with text and images, then there may be an error in the app, try clearing the camera cache.

I tried to scan a page containing chemistry drawings.

The camera detected the edges of the paper, and the "scan" option appeared.

However, the OCR did not find any text (since its all shapes), and didn't let me scan the page.

I got a small popup with a message saying "No text detected".

I want to scan a page, without text in it, but I can't.

I was unable to find any camera settings that affect OCR. Is it possible that you're confusing OCR (Optical Character Recognition) with QR codes?
