Line on the side of the screen. Top left

There is a line on the top left of the screen. It's not always visible ( it disappears when I use the s pen). Why us it there and can I get rid of it?

Try this:

Go to settings, search for Edge Panels, and disable it. Hope that helps! Edge panels allow you to swipe from the edge to quickly access apps. I find the feature to be a nuisance, and I disable it. The line gives you a point of reference to swipe.
