Hi all, I just got the Z fold 7. It's an awesome phone but unfortunately I get an instant headache from the PWM flicker. I'm assuming I will sadly have to return the phone, but thought I would ask first if anyone has figured out a workaround or other creative solution. Thanks.

I suggest going to a store and checking their Fold 7. If it does the same, it might be the phone; if not, get a replacement.

I can try that, but I had the same problem with the S23 ultra, and had to return that one too. I was hoping by now they would have added some kind of support for people who are sensitive to PWM, but apparently not...

It only affects some people, but it is a well-known phenomenon. PWM backlight dimming is a way for companies to "fake" making the screen look darker by flickering the display at a certain frequency and amplitude, which is cheaper and easier than alternative methods. Sadly it makes these displays unusable for people whose eyes are strained by that waveform
