A few hours ago I made the apparently terrible mistake of updating my Z Fold 7 (Model Name: SM-F966U, Carrier: US Cellular) to OneUI 8.0.
Literally minutes before updating I was using my hotspot and it was working perfectly fine.

After the update, my laptop connects and even says it has internet when hovering over the Wi-Fi connection. But when I try to use that internet for anything, it doesn't work. Shortly after, the connection severs, presumably due to lack of use or whatever.
The same occurs when using USB tethering.

I checked the Access Point Name (APN) settings and "dun" is present (adding this was a fix per another forum, but it has not worked for me).

I just wasted 2-3 hours with support. Did factory reset, mobile setting resets, the works, to no avail. I am at my wit's end and really really need hotspot for remote work away from my home WiFi.

I believe the new update is incompatible, somehow, with older SIM cards.

The phone has an eSIM. When I run the hotspot off of the physical SIM card, I am experiencing my hotspot issues. I believe I have used the same SIM card for many years now (I honestly don't know how long - anwhere between 10 and 3 years). However, when I run the hotspot off the eSIM, it works perfectly.

I intend to go to my carrier soon to transfer my phone number to a new SIM card. I will update with results.

Sorry for not updating. It was indeed a SIM card issue. Namely, they made the eSIM the primary card for the phone, rather than the physical SIM, without really explaining such to me beforehand. They did it to help me get the best deal with some promotions they were having, or something like that.

So after getting the new phone, the new eSIM was supposedly the primary SIM at that point. But it did not go into practice until after the phone restarted for the first time after starting to use it. Which happened to be when it updated.
