Hangouts is redirecting to the new chat app but I want both

I need help please, I recently downloaded the app  hangouts, it keeps redirecting  me to the new chat app. I want both. For personal reasons. How do I stop the redirect?

@userbABzbganYr You should reach out to Google. Those are Google products and their developers are the people you want to reach.

Hangouts is being discontinued and being actively replaced by Google Meet. That's why it's more than likely redirecting
