Favorite Contact not overriding DND

Here's how I have 

Allow during Do not Disturb: 

my wife

Also allow:

Calls: 

Favorite contacts only (she's on my favorite) 

Repeat callers is set to on

Okay, so when she calls me it goes straight to VM. But when she texts me, I get notifications and hear the text sound. 

I did the same on her s24ultra, it rings but no notification 

I removed her from the favorites, turned DND off and back on but no luck.

Try this.  It may or may not work but doesn't cost anything and won't hurt anything. Turn off the global DND.  Make a new mode (call it wifey or something). Set up the mode with an instance of DND (each DND instance is separate from the global and can have different settings). Configure the mode's DND the way you describe above. Turn on the mode and see if it now works properly.  If it does, then use that mode when you want DND on. If it does not, just delete the mode and you are no worse off, but still looking for an answer.
