Switch carriers but keep the same SIM card?

I need to switch carrier providers from one phone to another phone but use the same SIM card

Meant to say it doesn't I just don't know how to do it and where to go I need to switch the provider to another provider but I've got a T-Mobile SIM card in it now that does not work the SIM card works but it won't work in the phone because I need to switch the carrier over

It's not possible to switch between 2 different carrier providers while still using the previous carrier's SIM 🤨
