A Series & Other MobileI'm sure nothing happened. I set time for auto restart three hour ahead. I had the device sitting on a table in front of me while I watched TV. I even waiting one hour after the set restart time to give it extra time for restarting but nothing happened. I logged back in and time the device's uptime. It had not been restarted. But like I said the device was siting in front of me.
Maybe this only restarts if there is "really" a reason? Meaning there is a system check and a determination made by some logic to perform the restart.

A Series & Other MobileOk, I'll give this another try. I set my time to 1400EST. I rebooted the tablet to clear out everything running and logged back in. Turned the screen off. Now I will leave it idle and recheck after 1500EST in hope that it restarted.

A Series & Other MobileAre you sure? When the phone restarts on the auto optimization, it looks like nothing happened, except you will have to unlock it with your pin or password, not fingerprint. You can check if it did the auto restart by going into device care/auto optimization and seeing when the last auto restart was. I have experienced times when if failed to do an auto restart for whatever reason. You can do a manual restart at any time, or you can just wait and see if it's consistently missing the auto restart. As I suggested earlier, you might want to set a backup date and time until you see it's working consistently. BTW. I don't know if you just left the phone sitting or you were holding it, but having the screen on seems to count as "use" and if the screen is on, the phone won't restart.

A Series & Other MobileI don't know why sometimes it just misses the restart time, it's happened to me on more than one occasion - maybe something active in the background. But, then the next time it restarts on schedule. I also seem to have an absolute knack for pulling it out of my pocket to use it mid-restart.
The only things I can suggest is 1) set a secondary time/day so if it misses one, it may catch the other. 2) submit an error report within 15 minutes of the missed restart time so the information will still be in the logs.
