Hello Samsung Support Team,

My name is Mohammadamin, and I am a Galaxy A35 user. I would like to request real-time blur (Live Blur) for all UI elements.

Currently, only some parts like the Quick Panel and Volume Panel have static blur, while most menus and pop-ups remain flat. The device is capable of handling real-time blur smoothly and efficiently.

Providing full real-time blur across all UI elements would greatly improve the visual experience and make One UI more consistent.

Thank you for considering this request.

Mohammadamin

This is a user-to-user support forum. No one in charge of decision-making at Samsung reads anything posted here. You can send feedback via the Support tab, but I would not anicipate a response to this request.

Would not expect A series to get real time blur, ever, unfortunately.

No real time blur is a deliberate choice to save on processing power, which is crucial in devices with lesser chipsets.

Beyond the performance aspect, Samsung as a company is wise to maintain distinctions between the low-end and high-end.

The A series and S series don't have all the same features for the same reason base model and fully loaded vehicles don't have all the same features.

Hey! If you're working on real-time blur effects for the Galaxy A series, there are a few things to keep in mind โ€” especially when it comes to app development on mid-range devices.

Device Limitations
The Galaxy A series (especially the lower and mid-tier models) often lacks dedicated hardware acceleration for advanced graphical effects like real-time blur, which is more common on flagship devices like the Galaxy S or Z series.

This doesn't mean it's impossible โ€” but you may hit performance limitations, especially when trying to apply Gaussian blur or similar effects on live views or UI elements.

Development Tips
If you're developing an app and want to implement real-time blur on Galaxy A devices:

Use RenderScript or GPU shaders (if supported)

RenderScript was deprecated, but some older devices still support it. Otherwise, OpenGL ES or Vulkan with fragment shaders can be used for real-time blur effects.

Consider Static Blur Alternatives

You can blur a bitmap in the background and update it occasionally, which simulates a "real-time" effect without the performance hit.

Use Framework Support (if available)

In newer Android versions (Android 12+), there are native APIs like RenderEffect.createBlurEffect() and View.setRenderEffect(). These may or may not work efficiently on Galaxy A devices depending on the GPU.

Test on Target Devices

Real-time effects can vary widely in performance even within the same Galaxy A line (e.g., A12 vs. A54). Always test on the actual device you're targeting.

Alternative Libraries
If you're building a UI-heavy app and want a smooth blur, consider:

BlurView library (uses RenderScript or OpenGL)

GPUImage for Android

Compose UI + Modifier.blur (for Jetpack Compose apps)

Final Thoughts
If you're doing this as part of an   project targeting a wide range of devices, it's usually best to make blur effects optional or adaptive based on device capabilities. That way, users with lower-end Galaxy A devices still get a smooth experience.

I am a programmer myself and have tested several apps with real-time blur UI on various low-end devices. I even installed a ported ROM from S22 on Galaxy A20 and all the blurs were rendered well without lag or bugs

This software weakness in the non-Z and S series hurts my heart.

But I think the Galaxy A73 5G had this feature.

ohhh ok, so it's definitely samsung limit premium feature only for more expensive phone

regarding A73, so the thing is 2022 no S22 FE, so i am pretty sure A73 was built for S22 FE, so kinda make sense if A73 had live blur, thanks to no S22 FE

now A7x series is dead, no A74, no A75. Only S FE line, so if someone wanna live blur normally just grab S FE

It's understandable that you, as the end user, would not want your device to be limited when it can *technically* do a certain thing, like blur.

The reason it's unlikely to happen is that it doesn't make financial sense for Samsung. There is no company in the world (aside from those temporarily operating at a loss to break into a market) that willingly gives you more for less.

Any second-tier device is going to be limited, artificially or otherwise, because the primary purpose of any company is to generate as many dollars as possible.

I even tested the combination of liquid glass(Like iโ€ŒOโ€ŒS 26 ) and real time blur on my phone and it worked well.

Dear Samsung, I'm sorry ๐Ÿ˜ž

How old are you guys?

personally live blur isn't a big deal for me, that's why i prefer A series. Definitely my next phone of couple years will be either S series Galaxy phone or any other flagship from other brand (haven't decide yet), but my phone still going strong

i am 30s, 32 to be exact, how about you?
