Ever since the UI 8 update, my phone has had the green icon, the one we place calls with. It just quits. I push it to make a phone call, it comes up for 2 to 7 seconds, and then it just crashes spontaneously. Close itself. Making it impossible to make an outgoing call.

I went to the Galaxy store and updated it and keep checking for updates. I've got at least two patches since the UI 8 update and still no fix to the crash.
I wish I could say that is the only problem I got but yup a but my message appears has that exact same issue with crashing i have been doing the same going to the galaxy store for updates and no fix as of this pst.
I did with my message app find that if I turned on the option of Pic in Pic that I can use my message app .that option has limitations of it own.

If anyone should happen to have a clue about what I might have not turned on or off it would be a great thing for me. Any suggestions please let me know.
If you have the knowledge and the technical skills to solve my dilemma. Email this guy at (hidden).
Happy days are here to stay. What can talking about?

I'm guessing you mean UI7 since the A35 hasn't received UI8 yet.  I would suggest wiping the cache partition to see if that helps

Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.

Once the Android Recovery screen comes up, release the buttons.

Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting โ€˜Wipe cache partition.โ€™

Press the Power button to select โ€˜Wipe cache partition.โ€™

Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.

Press the Power button to confirm the action to clear the cache.

Wait for a second as the system wipes the cache.

Press the Power button again to reboot the device.

What's a Lie UI8 is still in Beta and only available on the Fold 7's S25's and the S24's right now as far as I know it hasn't been released to any other models.

It sounds like your Phone app (green icon for calls) and your Messages app are both crashing after the One UI 8 update, even after installing all available patches. Thatโ€™s frustrating, but there are a few things you can try that often fix app crashes caused by major Samsung updates:

๐Ÿ”ง Things to Try

Clear cache and data for the affected apps

Go to Settings โ†’ Apps โ†’ Phone (or Messages)

Tap Storage โ†’ Clear Cache

If that doesnโ€™t work, also try Clear Data (donโ€™t worry, call logs and messages are backed up if you use Samsung/Google backup).

Reset app preferences

Go to Settings โ†’ Apps โ†’ 3-dot menu (top right) โ†’ Reset app preferences

This wonโ€™t delete data but will restore all default app permissions and settings.

Safe Mode test

Hold Power button โ†’ Hold "Power off" โ†’ Tap "Safe Mode"

Try opening Phone and Messages. If they work fine, then a third-party app is interfering.

Check Google Play Services / Carrier Services

Sometimes crashes come from outdated Google or carrier services.

Update Google Play Services, Carrier Services, and Samsung system apps in both Galaxy Store and Play Store.

Wipe system cache (not personal data)

Power off the phone.

Hold Volume Up + Power until the Samsung logo appears.

Use volume keys to select Wipe Cache Partition โ†’ confirm with Power.

Then select Repair Apps if available.

Switch temporarily to Googleโ€™s Phone & Messages apps

From the Play Store, install Google Phone and Google Messages.

Set them as default in Settings โ†’ Apps โ†’ Default apps.

This will at least give you calling and messaging while waiting for Samsungโ€™s fix.

Report directly to Samsung

Open Samsung Members app โ†’ Support โ†’ Error reports.

Send a log after the crash; this helps Samsung patch it faster.

๐Ÿšจ If nothing helps

A factory reset sometimes clears out hidden conflicts after big UI updates (I know you may have already done something similar, but if not, itโ€™s worth considering with a backup).

If the issue persists even after a reset, itโ€™s likely a Samsung-side bug in One UI 8 that still needs patching. In that case, your best move is to stick with Google Phone/Messages or another temporary app until Samsung releases a hotfix.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Would you like me to check your specific phone model + carrier to see if others are reporting the exact same Phone/Messages crash after the UI 8 update? That might tell us if itโ€™s a widespread bug or something device-specific.
