Is it possible to unlock the bootloader on a carrier unlocked a15 5g SM-A56U/1DS ? I am just trying to figure out what needs to be done to get root access, but everything online I've found in forums or tech articles say to unlock in dev options. I've enabled developer options, but oem unlocking wasn't even listed nor was there a bootloader option.

The phone is fully paid for and I'm the original owner and had it for close to a year.

If you have a carrier locked phone, you have to first request the carrier to unlock it. Most automatically unlock it after it's paid off and/or after it's been on their network for a specific period of time. If it hasn't been auomatically unlocked, contact your carrier to unlock it. Some carriers allow you to do it yourself through your account on their app.

@mmmorphine Unfortunately you have landed in the user to user discussion group for Samsung US products and services. To find the discussion group for your geographical area, visit https://www.samsung.com/us/common/visitlocationsite/

I guess I should have mentioned I'm in the US. I'm going to feel pretty stupid if my bootloader was already unlocked. Every phone throughout my past required some sort of intentional unlocking before I could get root and I just assumed that this would be the same. Thank you for the advice.
