I recently purchased a Galaxy A36 because my previous phone which I'd had for 3 years constantly alerted that there was moisture in the charging port. Now my new device is doing the same. I've only been using it for 3 weeks and I bought 2 new charging cables as well so I'm not even using the old cables. I have cleared the USB cache, left phone in front of a fan and re-started a few times over the past 3 weeks and the moisture detection message has returned again. I do not live in or have been to a humid environment.  What can I do? Is it a software gliche?

It could also be detecting dust, lint or debris as moisture. You can try wiping out the port with a dry cotton swab. If that does not help, you can have it evaluated at a service center. You can buy port plugs to guard against moisture and dust.

Thank you for replying. I have tried using a cotton swap, wooden cocktail stick and a new soft bristle tooth brush but the problem still persists.

If it detects the same issue on both devices, the problem could rest in the cable you are using to charge your device.

@JOCO2 I would suspect that you have a cable that is causing damage to the USB port on your devices. You got a new device but kept an old cable.

The moisture detection is being set off by damage to the USB port.

Did you not read the post?  The cable was replaced twice.  It's a known issue and NOT cables, charging bricks, moisture, debris, dust! It even happens after spending $250 to replace the port.

This is a firmware/software issue.

I read the post. I'm saying that a defective USB cable can damage the port on a phone which can trigger this error. Getting the port replaced and using the old, defective cable could lead to new damage.

You said you started using your new phone with new cables, but the port still could have been damaged by something in your pocket, if that's where you keep your phone.  Port protectors will prevent that from happening.  It can also be a faultly sensor.  In the meantime, you will have to take it for evaluation to a repair center. Warning - if they do say it's moisture damage or scratched, they will likely deny a warranty claim.  Are you sure that you did not place it on a table on or near a wet spot or someone spilled something near it?

Your phone should have come with its own cable, it's found in the packaging insert.

Same thing is happening to my A35 that never leaves the house and I live in the desert. I suspect that this is a software issue and not a hardware (port) issue. Here's what works for me: Turn off Fast Charging, it's under Device Care>Charging. Clear your USB Cache again and restart the phone. This works for me for a few days and then I have to do it all over again.
