After yesterday's update instead of the side button on my A14 showing turn off options, it loaded Gemini. Completely baffled and thinking I may have to remove the battery to turn it off I resorted to googling the problem. There I found that without notifying users Samsung changed it in the update. Luckily it also explained how to switch it back. Isn't it common courtesy and common sense for the company to let users know when making alterations like this? I'll answer my own question...yes! No wonder I dread all these frequent updates, and think that some of the changes are for changes sake. If it ain't broken etc!

Ok, fair enough it's there if you are told how to find it. But why do we need to lose the side on/off and replace it with Gemini? Put Gemini somewhere else where those who want it can easily find it...change this, change that and it goes on and on and on, just because they can!

Because Google mandated it in Android 15, not Samsung!

At one time or another you always had to remap the power button. Out of the box the power button on the long press was always mapped to Bixby starting with phones in 2020. When Smart Switch came along it would move over from phone to phone. Then in Ui7/Android 15 Google (not Samsung) remapped the long press to Gemini forcing to remap the button again.

Actually, the side button being used for Gemini activation was widely announced.  I couldn't glance at a tech article or advertisement without tripping over that fact.  This was a change made in Android 15/OneUI 7.0.
