I have an A15 5G with Android 16, OneUI 8.0 and the screen keeps waking up when I have a phone call and Voicemail. How do I stop this? I do need the notifications on my lock screen, so disabling notifications altogether is NOT an option. I need it so see if I missed a phone call or have a voicemail for doctor calls and such, but am plagued by constant spam calls (changing my number is not an option either for friends and family and account information purposes).

It start a few weeks ago before I updated to Android 16 and I haven't updated the apps themselves or the general notifications settings in a while (I hate the new Google Phone layout, so I went back to the previous version).

And I don't have the AOD option that I saw in other suggestions (I can send a screenshot as proof, if needed).

Update: I was able to test it with another phone and it's the Visual Voicemail that's waking the screen up; not the incoming calls. Is there any way, other than disabling VV altogether, to keep it from waling the screen? Spam callers leave silent background noise voicemails, but I still need the notifications.

Phone calls will ALWAYS wake the screen.  There is no way to disable it. Missed calls, voicemail and other notifications will appear on the lock screen.  Turn on Spam protection either on your phone or in your carrier's app and that should keep most spam calls from ringing through.  Go through your call list and any number listed as spam likely, possible spam, etc, block those numbers.  Another way to go would be to configure do not disturb, keep it on at all times and only allow your contacts to ring through for calls and texts.   All notifications for the aps and missed calls will still show up, but all calls not in your contacts list will go straight to voicemail.

Putting your ringer on silent or vibrate will stop the barrage of sounds, but the screen will still wake for calls and you can glance at the screen to see if you need to pick up.

I've had this phone for over a year and have had it from waking the screen, so yeah, that's not accurate.

I'm wondering if you had Do Not Disturb (DND) enabled earlier. That is the only way I know of to force the phone not to alert you on phone calls.

No, I only put DND when listening on headphones or Bluetooth, so that phone calls don't interrupt the music I'm listening to and have been using DND for that since I got the phone.

It doesn't even show the incoming call phone screen; it just shows the lock screen when the screen wakes up.
