I have a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G, and one thing I've never liked is how while in a conversation log texting with someone, when there is a new text there is no beep sound. So if I turn away from the phone for a few seconds or long enough that the screen dims and then goes off, I won't know that there was a new text, until I get the screen back on. This can be really annoying sometimes! (and this also was the same with my previous Samsung Galaxy Core Prime phone)

This kind of sound notification while in a conversation log does work in other apps like Messenger, so WHY won't Samsung add it as an optional feature that we can choose to enable or keep disabled by default...???

Yes it is good in fb Messenger to have the notification sound always with an incoming text/message, but it isn't my primary texting app. It just would be nice if Samsung ever listened to anything people suggest here in the Members community forum...

I'm with @LongHiker, why would you need a sound if you are already engaged in the conversation? Google messages' "pop' is loud enough, even if you momentarily turn or walk away from the phone.

Thanks for your reply. Basically because my eyes are not always glued to the phone screen while in a text conversation, there are just some moments when I need to glance away at something else I might be doing, and some times in those instances I will miss a new text and since there's no notification sound for it then I'll miss it if I don't look back at the screen until after, sometimes way after, it has turned off. I just think that if this is a feature that DOES exist, in FB Messenger, then clearly it could be something that if Samsung wanted to, they could add it in maybe even as an option feature that could be enabled or kept disabled. But I guess Samsung doesn't want to add any more features.

If you are using Samsung messages, it's likely never going to happen, as they are in the process of letting it fade away and weaning people off it., by not updating it or adding new features. As we have said, at least Google messages has the incoming message sound if you turn it on. It's not as loud ir distinctive as your normal notification sound, but it can definitely be heard.

Ok, but I thought someone in the comments above said that GM didn't have it...

It has a sound - you have to enable it - but it is not the notification sound you set for the app, it's a "pop".

Ok thanks for sharing that. Maybe then I'll have to download GM and try it again, maybe it's had more feature changes in it's recent updates, because I didn't think it looked that interesting when I tried it about a year ago. I felt the Samsung app was still better for my liking. But I'll check out GM again. Thanks.

I don't think that what I'm about to say is the problem, but never know. When your texting your recipient make sure that you come out of the conversation/text thread completely. As for sometimes if your in a thread, & just let the screen time out, you may not get a notification.
