You bought the phone with *their* software, knowing their software is on it. You are free to download any other app you choose, if you don't like or want to use theirs. The Samsung news app can be uninstalled if you don't want it on your phone. And, if you believe Samsung apps are garbage, why are you buying Samsung phones?

That's unfortunate, because that's what you get. If you want to use a different news app, download it and put it on your favorites bar so that to can access it from any page. Add it to your Now Bar if you are able, but you will not be able to swipe to it. Now, I don't know if that's because it's currently the only news app installed on your phone, or they are allowing access only to it. In any case it makes very little difference because one news app is the same as any other {unless it's a single source news app). They are shells that allow you to get your news from the sources you choose

You do realize all you have to do is open the Google app to get the news feed. I have that page turned off so I can have looped pages.

It's not faster if the app is on your home screen. You can also access it if you have the Google Search bar on your home screen by tapping on the G.
