@gegphotojr The simplest way is to add an appropriate calendar or clock widget. 

1. From a Home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
2. Widgets. (at the bottom).
3. Select approriate widget option.
4. Touch and hold a widget.
5. Drag the widget to the preferred Home screen location then release. ...
6. If applicable, tap additional options to activate widget.

Thanks I already have a calendar app on the home page. Just need to change the widget so it shows the date.

@gegphotojr You may have to add a new widget which has only the date. IME changing an existing widget could be impossible.

Hold the home screen for a few seconds. Scroll to the right until you see this and then tap on it.

@angelg4 Clicking the + that you circled would add a home page. It would not add a widget.
