GALAXY A12 SHOWS STORAGE FOR "OTHER" AT 20 GB

I used the remote assist feature earlier today to have a tech look at the dilemma. We cleared the cache on several apps, moved some files to my SD card and NOTHING helped. That "other" managed to get just under 20GB but not enough to make more room on my phone for basic apps. I stopped playing games months ago, and while I initially really liked this phone, especially because it was big enough for my large hands, and it felt sturdy ... it just isn't working well. 

Can someone figure this out?
Not even a Samsung Remote Assistant Tech could tell me what the "other" is all about. I went through EVERY APP I had and cleared the cache. To no avail.

@11-11 To get full details on storage usage, click the "i" to the right of apps. Give it permission so that it can properly determine which app uses what data. Until you do that, you will see everything lumped into "Other".

Probably the best course of action is to factory reset and then restore your backup. That miscellaneous junk doesnt get stored in the backup.

I was thinking about that, but it's such a royal pain in the head to muddle through everything again. I think I have a solution now.

Not really, resets are pretty painless these days with the backups putting everthing back where it belongs. And which is eorse, running out of space or doing the reset. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet
