Check your apps. I installed the freestyle app and it uses a lot  of my battery. Would not last 8 hours.

You should read your End User Licensing Agreement.

It is very clear that by using your Samsung phone, you agree to any and all updates. To opt out, don't use the product.

Check your battery statistics to see what apps are using the most power, then optimize them. Updates do sometimes use additional battery resources, as they are more powerful than the previous system.  The use should not be significant.  Sometimes during updates, settings get changed or moved and have to be reconfigured for some apps.  Some settings get added that can help alleviate excessive battery drain.  Mostly, though, the battery drain is only during the initial two weeks while the battery re-learns your battery usage patterns and finishes setting up and updating apps.  Sometimes updates cause app incompatibility and apps that become incompatible may use more battery power trying to remain alive, or seeking an update that does not come - that is up to the app developer.

Power your phone off. Press the Volume Up and Power keys at the same time to access the bootloader menu. At this time, you can't use the touchscreen to make selections, so use the Volume keys to scroll down to Wipe Cache. It will tell you it can't be undone, but it clears files that may be causing unnecessary battery drain... you WON'T lose anything unless you select the option to do a factory reset. Once you reach Wipe Cache, press the Power key, then use the Volume keys to select that you want to clear the cache. Once it says something like 'Cache Partition Has Been Wiped!", then use the Volume keys again to select Restart Device. Your phone will turn back on as normal, and you should see improved battery life.

Same here! Huge battery drain after one ui 8 update. I'm loosing 1% per minute, even if I'm not using the phone. Overall the phone feels smoother  and no much laggs as before. Hope they address the issue in the future

Hey community, I wanted to share something about my Samsung Galaxy A13. I feel like the battery drains really quickly, even when I’m not using many apps.

I’m not sure how to optimize or “clean” the battery so it lasts longer.

👉 Do you guys have any tips to improve battery performance?

I’ve heard that disabling background apps, using power saving mode, and checking app permissions can help, but I’d love to hear your experiences. 🙌

As you noted apps running in background will affect battery life as well as when you use data i.e browser or apps etc i would start with the apps running in the background
