The default is on, because why wouldn't you want to know somthing went wrong with your cycle?

Why wouldn't anyone want to know when their laundry is done? Unless the chimes go on forever until you open the machine top, I don't see an issue. In any case, there must be something in the manual to disable to chimes, if it's capable of doing so.

I found the manual online ( https://www.samsung.com/ie/support/model/WW11DB7B34GWU3/#downloads ), but could not find an answer, so I would assume that you can't disable the sound. Although. it appears to have wi-fi and is able to be controlled with the SmartThings app. Perhaps the answer is there?
Because it’s an annoyingly Looooong ear hurting noise that my parrot will start to mimic in less than a week. If I had Any clue that this was a “feature” I would have bought something else. PS. I own a watch and I have good vision and can tell when a washer finishes the final spin.
