I'm thinking of getting an S23 for my brother since he's starting high school, and an S22 Plus for my dad because he needs good battery life. I'm still undecided-can you give me some advice or suggestions?

The S22+ (what I have) is a great choice for anyone honestly. This phone is absolutely amazing DEPENDING on how you buy it. I would most certainly buy it from Samsung and only a very limited choice of 3rd party suppliers. AT&T, Verizon, Spectrum/Charter, and most OEM parties but limits on this device that will kill the battery life, fight for limiting the user's control, etc. Fun fact: Samsung makes highly capable devices that offer just as much control to their user as any other app promises AND THEN SOME. Delete the Facebook (or any other Meta) app or neuter it from taking over all access to the phone. Want Facebook, use Edge and sign in through the browser otherwise it will suppress the phone's abilities such as wirelessly charging other devices without having to be plugged in, a camera that is professional grade quality with abilities and options far exceeding any app Facebook or other 3rd party can write, and many other functions that make this device SOOO amazing. I can even scan my surroundings and passively (or aggressively) find a tracker with this thing. It can scan your home and tell you the best placement for your wifi router, run speed tests on those companies PROMISING connection speeds of 100MB/sec to know they are 100% lying and overcharging you for the $80 internet cable service they are providing (*coughSpectrumcoughChartercoughAT&Tcough*) pushing you to FIRE them for their abysmal "service" and to find companies like TMobile who offer what they claim or exceed expected performance. Also if he is a shutter-bug especially with the high performance camera, I would opt for the higher end of storage option. If the settings for for crystal clear pictures and videos is enabled pictures and the like quickly fill your memory space to handle the amount of info behind these pictures and the S22+ DOES NOT have a microsd chip slot, so the space you have is the space you have. If he has a PC that is Windows 10 or 11 capable though have him set up the phone link between the 2 for smooth and easy picture transfers. I have not regretted buying this device once. It can do soooooo much more and the day to day functions seems to come with endless options. Even through having my identity stolen, I do not want to even imagine where my life would be if I did not have this very device in my hand. It has enabled me to not only the ability to secure my accounts in real time, quickly and efficiently, but it has enabled me to push back to the hacker granting me the ability to see when any attempt is made to my accounts AND to shut their attempts down even to recognize their devices and connections as bad actors and to not let them try again. I always shake my head at folks who complain about their Galaxies. Everything I ask them where their device comes from, it's always through their phone provider. Besides, buy it direct from Samsung and get better and cheaper coverage with the Samsung Care + service who doesn't limit you on repairs made to YOUR device. Samsung cares about the products they make and offer the services and satisfaction with their customers 24/7. No other phone provider nor the **bleep** insurance they try to make you buy offer the access nor the services they do. You can even contact service support at 3 a.m. asking how to setup something 3rd party software wise and they will help you do it or even fix an issue that is specific to your device. During the AI installment my phone lost the ability to even find any network from any tower. I'm pretty sure they had to write and push that fix to my individual device the instant I hit wifi the next day and like magic had my phone up and running again. I can't wait to get a Samsung S25 Ultra; it will be my next handheld and I will finally get the option to have the Care + program for a device with them (I missed my 22 being covered by it being months too old finding out about it), and I'm hard pressed as to which I'm more excited about, having a S25Ultra with 1TB in hand or Care+.

Also my S22+ was bought when it was 1 year released. To this day, it functions at the same, if not even better, rate from day 1 in my hand and I push this bad little baby to get jobs done!

Keep in mind that each year older the model is, that's a year of updates and security patches that are no longer available. If your brother would be using the S Pen a lot (for notes, drawing, etc) the S24 Ultra is the latest model to retain Bluetooth functionality on the S Pen. Your Dad might appreciate the precision of the S Pen (I use it all day, every day because of dexterity issues)... and power saving mode will give him plenty of battery life. I use my S24 Ultra all day and put it on a wireless charger at night.
