I need an app for Bluetooth?

Why would I need to download an app to use Bluetooth , which is supposedly already in my tablet, so I can watch a movie?

Bluetooth is most likely on your tablet. You can go to tablet settings -> Connections to enable Bluetooth.

Because when I tried to have Bluetooth accept my earphone piece, it told me I needed an app for it

What earphone piece? Some may have their own app to provide special features. But you should be able to connect it to Bluetooth for basic sound.

Right now, I have it charging as its battery was low, but I will try it again soon. Yeah, I bought a single earphone that clips onto my ear and stays put.

@Bonamo62 In another of your posts it looks like you have an Apple tablet, not a Samsung tablet.

Some headphones and earbuds have their own app as @LongHiker said.  To get the most out of the features one should set up their ear gear with the app.  As was also, stated, you should be able to just connect to BT for basic functions, but it's possible that this particular device really wants to be set up from within the app, much the same way the watches require the Wear app and hearing aids require their own app.
