I've been lied by online Samsung sale expert. They told me the Active4 Pro 5G unlocked and Active5 Pro 5G Unlocked it's capable of making and receiving direct calls, like a regular smartphone. They told me "You just need an activated Sim card and you will be using it as a regular smartphone without Samsung cloud synchronization."

The tablet doesn't work like they (more than one) it's telling everyone. Samsung don't want to send me a tablet with calling feature nor give my money back. I have two different carrier's Sim card Inserted and does the same with both ( T-Mobile & Verizon) 

If you facing the same situation, please send me a msg. I'm looking to start a Class-action. They are lying about the tablet capabilities, just for the sale. This is against the federal and local laws.

Unless they are something special about the Active 4 and 5 Pro 5G as far as I know tablets are not designed for direct calls. I'm unsure who told you otherwise.  But the SIM card is for data only. The only way to make calls on a tablet is through the "Call and Text on other devices" feature.

Go to Samsung website and chat with sale experts. Ask that question, give me your feedback. I chatted with two different experts. They said the same lied just to make the sale. I have the chats transcripts.

From what I can find on Google its suppose to support direct calling. I would check with your carrier and see if the Sim is setup for a Tablet. This is what I found on Google.

Methods for Calling on Tab Active 4 Pro
Direct Cellular Calls (with SIM/eSIM):
Insert an activated SIM or eSIM into the tablet.
Use the built-in Phone app to dial numbers, make video calls, or use contacts/recents.
Ensure VoLTE calls (4G Calling) are enabled in your Connection settings if needed for better quality.

Link with Your Samsung Phone (Call & text on other devices):
Sign into the same Samsung account on your phone and tablet.
In Quick Settings, enable "Call & text on other devices" on both devices.
Calls to your phone number will appear on the tablet, and you can initiate calls from the tablet using your phone's connection.

Troubleshooting

No Signal: Check cell coverage or move to an area with better reception.

Carrier Issues: Some carriers or specific plans might limit tablet calling features.

Activate SIM: Confirm your SIM or eSIM is properly activated for data and calls.

Thank for your efforts. 

I'm dealing with this issue since November 2025. I have two Sim cards ( T-Mobile & Verizon). I sent the tablet twice to repair center, 2 different 3rd party repair center.  Same results, No direct calls capability. 

Go to the User manual, look for the calls feature. They didn't say you need another Samsung phone, with another Sim card and both have to be in the same Wi-Fi. 

I have another Samsung tablet (S7 Fe 12-inch) they told me I have to buy the Active4 5G Unlocked to use it as a smartphone. 

I did it.  No direct calls. Don't want to send me a call capable tablet nor my money. 

I'm going to Sue them. But if any other person has the same situation, I will start a Class-action. 

I did a 3-line call with T-Mobile and Samsung,  when they saw that cannot blame the carrier no more, they told me, I have to use the "Call and text on another phone ". That's the way I used my S7. I bought the 5G Unlocked because they said it's my solution to have a calling capable tablet. But it's a lie, just to make another sale.

You can take a look at the User Manual. Let me know if you can find anywhere stating that you need to use the call and text on another device. 

Model= SM T638U

But they can't do direct calls or text. 

On repair center, they replaced the Main and Sub board. At the end they had to admit I've been lied. But no replacement nor money back.

Also, I've been asking for Florida's Samsung Registered Agent (Legal department) to send the Sue notification. In more than 3 weeks, nobody has been answered yet. 

But I finally get it. 

Samsung calls center, Repair Center and CEO email did nothing about my tablet nor that simple Info. I will have no mercy with Samsung 

If any other has been lied about the calling feature, send me a Msg to convert my Sue in a Class-action Lawsuit.
