Adjusting volume and brightness is completely different. Volume can be adjusted by tapping anywhere on the volume bar and then moving the slider naturally. But with brightness slider, the brightness setting/percentage moves to the exact spot where you first tap it. This is inconsistent and annoying.
I think the Brightness Slider is like this because when you press, hold and slide the Quick Panel disappears letting you see the whole screen to get the perfect brightness for your liking
