All smartphones share your location based on app permissions. Apps generally only have location access if you allow it.

You can adjust which apps have access by going to Settings > Location > app permissions. You can also disable location sharing altogether in Settings > location

Sharing your location with what/who?  Have you allowed location sharing with a contact or family member?  Have you allowed location sharing in any app that requires it.  Many apps require it and will tell you so when you first open it and you have the option to share all the time or only when using that app.  Your phone, in general, is a tracking device.  If you no longer want an app to have location permission, go to the app detail and remove the permission - it will likely ask you for permission again when you use the app.  You can also set ups to remove permissions after a period of non-use.  If you enabled location sharing with a friend, SO, or family member, you can revoke that too, although I personally am not sure how, as I have never used the feature, but it is a Google service and I found this.
