How can in the era of large LLM'S and advanced voice typing services Samsung is still light years behind Google's advanced typing.

Yes, GBoard and Google Voice typing exist on Samsung phones, but Google has not opened all that can be done on a Pixel to Samsung phone's using GBoard.

Yes, Samsung has added some incredible Ai features, most of which don't make our devices smart. Samsung Keyboard still can't insert punctuations, emoji's, start a new paragraph, it can't do commands such as send, replace words, it can't do anything really productive. The only thing it can do well is use Ai to rewrite in different styles, grammer and spell check. None of the Ai writing can be done on device, it is all cloud based. That would require more RAM, we all know Samsung will only give 1 TB models 16gb of RAM. Really!

The more Google gets smarter, the more I want to put my SIM in my Pixel.

I have to admit, Google's treatment of "pixel exclusive" features is a bit reminiscent of a certain walled orchard...

Understandable, though. All OEMs have features that are unique to their own devices. Google happens to have some very nice ones.

I can understand major flagship things that distinguish the pixel, but basic functions like typing and punctuation for voice input feels like a petty (bordering on malicious) way to disadvantage OEMs.

Google wants to get paid to open these features to other OEMs. Just like Apple is going to pay Google billions for a LLM for Apple Intelligence, Google would require Samsung to pay too. Having GBoard work seamlessly on a Samsung phone would require Google to specifically work on a version for Samsung. GBoard advanced typing works on device, no cloud services needed. Samsung Ai writing requires cloud services, I just turned Wifi off and put my phone in Airplane mode, tried to use Ai writing and it said no networks available. Google is not going to give it to Samsung phones for free.

Likely. This seems to have already taken place with Google Messages, and Bixby, to name two I've seen. That's an interesting catch , about the Samsung AI writing , vs Gboards.

I personally haven't put either to the test lately, but I found Geminis live mode writing to be the best so far, It auto capitalizes , auto punctuates, and overall just works the best , youre not rushing, like all other voice typing software ive observed ...
