UI7/8 are largely adopting Google's M3E design language. Going backward would make the UI look dated. Like it or not, this is the way forward.

And from the look of UI8.5 leaks (if they are to be believed) it is shaping up to be objectively the most beautiful and most customizable version of One UI ever released.
