Messages stopped using chat service

They're getting rid of Samsung Messages, and replacing it with Google Messages.

I'm upset, but probably only because I was used to the design of Samsung Messages.

My messages app randomly stopped allowing chats to be sent, and all my texts are going through SMS instead.

When I tap on chat service, it says registration failed.

I kind of prefer having read receipts though.

Samsung Messages. I prefer the older interface

Carriers are no longer supporting RCS, which is what Samsung Messages needs for those features. Google Messages natively supports RCS because everything runs through their servers. You won't have RCS features going forward unless you use Google Messages.
