It can be frustrating when your apps don't work as expected, especially after an update.

Here are some things to understand and steps you can take to address the issues you're having!

Understanding who is responsible for what.
Imagine your phone or tablet as a shopping mall. The mall was built, owned, and operated by Samsung. The mall's owner is responsible for maintaining the facilities and property, as well as any services the mall itself directly provides to consumers.

Inside the mall are various stores, each one with a different set of products for sale and a unique function. These are the apps on your device. Even though they exist inside the shopping mall, each store is independently owned and operated. Each shop owner has autonomy and runs their business as they see fit.

Now imagine you are in the food court of this shopping mall.

You are quite hungry and order a cheeseburger, only to receive this:

Who is responsible for the fact that you were served a moldy sock-burger? Is it the owner of the shopping mall, or the owner of that specific burger shop in the shopping mall?

Obviously, the mall owner just rents out the space, and the restaurateur is responsible for making it right if they want to 1) remain in business and 2) retain you as a customer.

In the same way, third party app developers are responsible for making sure their apps work properly, especially after a major update. While the app may run on a Samsung phone, it is not up to Samsung to make it right.

Now that we understand who is responsible for what, here are some things you can try if you find apps aren't working properly after an update:

☆ Follow Samsung’s Best Practices Guide
In particular, clearing device cache is an important practice in order to clean up junk files and keep things running smooth.

See the guide here:

☆ Use Samsung’s Good Guardians

Download Good Guardians and run its various modules. These modules optimize performance and can identify unusual behavior.

App Booster re-optimizes your apps. This should be run after an update.

If the issue persists, it may be an issue with the specific app rather than with your device.

☆ Make sure the app is up to date.
Check the Play Store/Galaxy store for updates.

☆ Troubleshoot by restarting the app.
Sometimes app issues are as simple to resolve as force closing and restarting that particular app. To do this, open the Task Switcher. This is the view where your apps appear as cards side-by-side. Close the troublesome app by swiping up or tapping "Close all."

☆ Troubleshoot by clearing app data.
Go to Settings > Apps > Desired app > storage > clear cache. If that doesn't help, clear data. If that doesn't help, uninstall/reinstall.

☆ If none of these steps correct your problem, send an error report to the app's developer (developer contact info available in Play Store Listing) to make them aware of the issue.

☆ If the app is a first party app developed by Samsung, you can send feedback in the Samsung Members app. Visit the Support tab and navigate to "Send Feedback."

You just created a weird argument that doesn't follow the validity of third-party mobile apps.

No, the "mall" doesn't get involved in quality control with an app as long as it doesn't violate publishing policies set by Samsung. Thus, shops in a mall don't affect the mall unless the shops violate the mall's policies. A poor app experience doesn't constitute Samsung getting involved.

Your Ebay example also makes no sense because Ebay has a policy set for that kind of stuff. Samsung doesn't have a policy to upkeep apps after updates, as it was clearly explained.

To your point, Samsung is involved in the vetting process for apps on the Galaxy Store, just as Google is involved in the vetting process for apps on the Play store.

However, neither Samsung nor Google can directly enforce app maintenance from developers. Rather, they enforce maintenence indirectly through policies in place that require devs to meet certain deadlines for major OS updates or be delisted.

...apt analogy that applies only if the third party app is just that...a third party app. Since updating to One UI 8.0, a couple of my SAMSUNG APPS are now being wonky - and clearing cache and doing other tweaks to system settings hasn't helped. But perhaps worst of all is that the "about" settings for each problem app doesn't give contact info. To figure out HOW TO CONTACT SAMSUNG ABOUT THESE ISSUES WITH THESE SAMSUNG APPS, I had to do a Google search where I found an article about downloading and using the Samsung Members app in order to communicate with Samsung about issues with Samsung Apps - none of which is mentioned in your article. In fact, I would never have seen your article had it not been for the fact that I now have the Samsung Members app, for it was there in that app that your article was promoted. Odd that you'd go through such great lengths to discuss the method for identifying and addressing issues with third party apps yet make no mention on how to address issues with Samsung Apps - all of which makes me think that your report is a bit one-sided and, as such, biased.

Hey, welcome to Members! This post was made in direct response to users posting here about banking apps, social media apps, etc.

Samsung apps have been addressed implicity in the post and explicitly in the comments section below (in response to another user.)

All of the troubleshooting steps provided in the post also apply to Samsung apps.

You can send feedback in the Members app by visiting to the Support tab and navigating to "Send feedback."1765542881927.jpg1765542881952.jpg

I see no mention at all in the article about using the Members app to communicate directly with Samsung regarding issues with THEIR apps. There nay he mention of this in the posted comments abd their responses but, again, I see no mention in the article itself - so I stand by my assertion that this was an oversight on the part of the author.

Gee thanks but you fail to differentiate opinion from fact. It is a fact that the article fails to mention the Members app...not opinion, fact.
