Samsung Apps and ServicesHello there,
there is a technology that camera sensors in phones since the Galaxy S23 Ultra apparently has, but itโs not activated by Samsung, a technology called Dual Control Gain, or Dual Gain Output. It is a technology where the sensor captures images in 2 different exposures and combines them together for higher dynamic range. The video quality improves in a major way.
Apparently, only Pixel 10 Pro has enabled this feature, and for other phones that the sensor has this technology, they need to be rooted to gain access to this. Well, no one wants to root their phone, so I kindly ask to enable this feature on all phones that has a sensor with this technology. (Specially the S24 Ultra Enterprise Edition ๐
here is a video talking about it > https://youtu.be/YVj6JYXF14M
I honestly hope Samsung can do this to get some more quality out of their cameras.

Samsung Apps and ServicesPS: apparently this is called Dual Conversion Gain. And Samsung actually has a name for it โSmart ISO Proโ.

Samsung Apps and ServicesApparently this is only available in photo, but not in video. At least from what I found online. Maybe you can confirm that if you have some S23-25 Ultra?
It seems currently the only phones supporting this in video are the Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro Max, and only using a third party camera app like MotionCam Pro.
Iโm about to change my iPhone 15 Pro Max, and Iโm highly considering the S24 Ultra. It would be nice to see this feature enabled.

Samsung Apps and ServicesSo, about the MotionCam, thatโs exactly the app I was looking here online, and people are saying that the only phones that MotionCam can enable this dual gain feature is on the Pixel 10 Pro and Max (which funny enough uses Samsung camera sensors from what I read). Also read that it is possible to enable this in other phones where the sensor supports it IF you root the device and install custom roomโฆ but Iโm definitely not up for that.

Samsung Apps and ServicesOw, youโre good man. Nothing to be sorry about. I just hope Samsung sees this here and carefully think about enabling this. It makes such a good difference on video. Videos using this dual gain feature using that MotionCam Pro app on the Pixel 10 Pro comes out better looking than on iPhone 17 Pro with ProRes Raw HQ. Only problem is that the Pixel is very underwhelming and overpriced. The SoC canโt keep up. On a comparison video the Pixel 10 Pro could only record about 5 minutes of 4K open gate RAW before it started dropping frames. Their Tensor chip have a long way to go to catch up with Snapdragons and Appleโs A chips.
