The Contact widget no longer allows for the entire contact to be utilized as a shortcut, which is vitally important to me. In the latest Android update, the Contact widget only allows for direct dial, which renders the widget useless for anything other than a phone call. It is no longer possible to use the widget to create a shortcut for the purpose of reviewing useful info in the contact or to send a text message. Why would Android want to eliminate that functionality from that widget?

I agree, what a stupid update for removing the View Contact Widget from the menu.  But thank you for the tip about adding the contact to the Home Screen.  I was able to go into the contact, select "More", select "Add contact to Home screen", select "View contact info", then drag the contact where I wanted it.  (There was also an option to just "Add".)

Now I have the new contact the same as the old ones, where I get to choose how I want to make contact.

I agree, how stupid for this not to remain in a widget, I cant tell you how much time I wasted trying to figure this out, when you google it, it says it is in a widget, eventually this post came up on samsung, so thanks.
