Cloud Backup

Nowadays, your smartphone is much more than a communication device. You can take pictures, create videos, store essential data, play games, use it as a GPS device, etc. However, despite the importance of smartphone data, many users fail to protect it adequately.

Not backing up your Samsung can lead to permanent data loss due to accidental deletion, device compromise, or theft. On the other hand, regular, continuous backups ensure you can restore data following various data loss scenarios.

Why Samsung Phone Backup is Important?

Although your Android phone offers many convenient features, proper device backup requires you to go the extra mile. Choosing to skip backup can expose your personal and app data to various data loss threats, such as accidental deletion, hardware failure, software bugs, system crashes, cyberattacks, natural disasters, physical device damage, theft, etc.

How to Backup Samsung phone Data to Samsung Cloud

In addition to syncing your smartphone data with the Samsung Cloud, you can back up data from your Samsung device to said Cloud. To do so, you must first sign in to your Samsung account and then follow the steps below:

Open Settings -> Accounts and backup.
• Tap Samsung Cloud -> Back up data.
• Check the items you want to back up and tap Back up.
• Tap Done.

Enable Automated Backups

To enable automated backups to the Samsung Cloud, follow the steps below. (keep in mind, the backup cycle occurs once every 24 hours; for it to complete, your phone must be connected to Wi-Fi and charged, and the screen must have stayed off for at least one hour)

  • Open Settings -> Accounts and backup.
  • Tap Samsung Cloud.
  • Select More options (the three vertical dots) -> Settings.
  • Select Sync and auto backup settings -> Auto back up.
  • Choose what files to back up automatically to the Samsung Cloud.
You can back up the following data types to the Samsung Cloud: Apps, Calendar, Call Logs, Contacts, Clock: Alarms, Documents, Home Screen, Messages, Music, Phone, Settings, Voice Recorder.

The Best Strategy: A Multi-Layered Approach

Combine cloud (for automatic, off-site security) with local backups (Smart Switch/PC/Thumb Drive) for complete peace of mind, ensuring you have both convenient synchronization and a robust, offline recovery option.

Wow. After seeing that post of the s22 I was bewildered as that was a thing I have never seen happen! That was a good lesson, as I am currently in the middle of a backup myself!

One needn't pay for cloud storage, either: back up to a computer, external drive, even a flash drive. We back up everything to our NAS for self-hosted storage. Whatever you do, BACK UP OFTEN and NEVER have only one backup! Flash memory will fail... have two or more current backups of critical data and you'll never have to write that gut-wrenching post, begging for help restoring critical files that can likely never be restored.

Up to a certain small amount. For additional storage, which will be required to back up everything, it's gonna cost.

For example, Samsung Cloud does not store photos and videos in the Gallery. Those are pretty important... but Samsung backs those up to Microsoft OneDrive. Unless you have a Microsoft account, those won't be backed up by Samsung Cloud. Now there are TWO cloud services in the mix: throw in Google Drive, now there are three and that data is being analyzed & mined to oblivion.
