I have an Acer Helios Predator PH18-72 laptop that has Intel VMD enabled by default.  I am running two Samsung 990 Pro ssd's and Magician cannot update their firmware due to an incompatibility error with VMD.  I cannot disable it otherwise the drives are not seen.

Does Samsung ever plan to update Magician so it can update the firmware in this environment or do I need to start buying another brand of drives for my computers?  I have no intention of taking my laptops apart anytime I need to update their firmware.

Just cloned and installed the first one replacing my boot drive.  Right after it booted I ran the WD dashboard and it picked up on a firmware update applying it without incident.  My second drive is on the truck for delivery and once it arrives I'll clone the storage drive.

Looks like my storage future lies with WD/Sandisk and Corsair.

have the same problem, my old laptop is too old to work with the 990 :(((
and lol like you say, the PH18-72 seems glitchy ?  I basically followed the directions on how make the bootable usb drive with the 990 firmware but PH18-72 didn't seem to want to register the process. UGHH...

Well I spoke too soon as the WD drive's Silicon Motion controller was dropping out making the SN8100's disappear.  I returned that drive and have now ordered two Crucial T710's with Phison controllers and will report back after I install them.
