Battery consumption is complexly influenced by various factors, such as updates to installed apps, changes in the device’s usage environment, or usage patterns. After a major software update, it’s normal to notice temporary changes in battery life. Here are a few steps you can try while your device adjusts and optimizes in the background.

Let Adaptive Battery Relearn Your Usage

After a major update, the first thing you need to insure is that the Adaptive battery option is turned on and operating. If it is on, Excellent!

How to turn on Adaptive Battery:

  • Slide Down from the right corner and select Settings.

Allow Time

Your device will need some time to reoptimize again. Allow 2 full weeks for the adaptive battery to relearn your usage pattern. Battery usage may appear higher during this adjustment phase.

Check Your Performance Profile

If you’ve tried the above, and look for more immediate options to save battery life, you could also try checking your performance profile. Adjusting your performance mode can help reduce strain.

  1. Open Settings > Go to Device Care

Selecting this performance profile keeps the device performance smooth for everyday use, help reduce overheating, and should extend the battery life.

Optimizing Your Device

Many times, Battery drainage can occur due to background applications. Auto Optimization helps keep apps from running unnecessarily in the background.

Wipe Cache Partition

This is probably one of the best practices to perform after an update. This clears old system cache that may affect performance after updates. This does NOT delete personal data.

⚠️!! IMPORTANT: Please note, if within the recovery mode if you alter settings or select something incorrect, you risk the chance of voiding the warranty. YOU MUST be careful while within this menu and ONLY select the options listed below. DO NOT select Factory reset within this menu as you will lose all data on your device.

Steps:

  1. Power off the phone
  2. Hold Power + Volume Up until Recovery Mode appears
  3. Use volume keys to select Wipe cache partition
  4. Press Power to confirm
  5. Select Yes, then reboot
