I have a Yamaha YMC-700 tuner amplifier that does not have eARC. To get audio to the unit from my Samsung DU7200 I have tried the HDMI outputs with no luck. The TV Does not see the unit but the Yamaha will play through to the TV. To get audio from the TV to the Yamaha, can I take the eARC output to a HDMI to Optical Audio converter? Will the TV recognize this and let audio out the HDMI port?
I purchased a HDMI eARC to optical audio and the TV recognized the unit and allowed the TV to send audio to ia and thereby to the YMC-700. I don't have control of the sound on the TV remote, but the YMC-700 remote works okay.
