Update 7/17/25:

I called Best Buy support 4 days later after monitoring readings and informed them about what I was seeing with the door temperatures. Options were to have someone come out to service and get a new same model refrigerator; so I chose the replacement option and 2 days later, a new one was delivered and powered up; they took the original away.

After monitoring the temps both on the shelves and the door I could see a good improvement especially on the door temps.

Have to assume the original had some issue the replacement did not.

Best Buy sales and delivery crew and told me an issues within 10 days and they'll deliver a new one and turns out they really did.

Hello. We bought a new side by side rs27t5200sr from Best Buy that was installed last Saturday (6/21/25) and after letting it all run for a couple days, I've found using various thermometers, the freezer works great and the main shelves of the fridge stay below 40 degrees but not the door shelves.

The temp the installers set was 37 and I put it down to 34 degrees but still the door shelves whether empty or with some food may sometimes get to 40 degrees but mostly 41-43. Right now the temp is set to 36 degrees.

I've also noticed that if I even open the door for 10-15 seconds, the temp goes up fairly quick and may take 30-60 minutes to go back down.

This seems really strange to me. I'm over 60 years old and had many fridges over the years, all brand new, and never had to set the fridge temp to the lowest possible setting to try and get the door temps down below 40 degrees.

Anyone confirm this with your fridge and if this seems to be a problem to address so we can put food on the door and be assured it doesn't get compromised being over 40 degrees?

The installers said that if any problems Best Buy will replace within 10 days but I don't want to do that unless I'm confident this is a real problem with others able to say their door temps are better.

Thanks for the help.

The temperature of door shelves tend to be warmer than the main compartment due to the constant opening of the door.  Also, they are further away from the cooling fan and have no cooling elements themselves.  This is why they recommend not keeping fresh milk on the door shelves (even though they make bins for the containers). This is basic physics.

The temperature on the door or inside the door are not accurate and they are consistently updated.  By what we can see it takes an average every hour.  Which if you get a thermometer will see if fluctuates a lot, and my cause bacteria in your food.  And if you store medicine like we do you can rune rather easily with this type of flux.  The only way I was told that you can get the refrigerator to give you and accurate reading at the time you want it, you have to unplug and the refrigerator for couple of minutes and plug it back in.   This what they have you do when you trouble shoot these types of issues.  This really doesn't have any impact on the system or reboots it,  it is to tell samsung the temp at that time.

You are not supposed to store medicine in the door bins for precisely this reason.  You are supposed to store refrigerated medicines toward the center of a center shelf in the refrigerator.  Any pharmacist will tell you this. This keeps  it from freezing (by being too close to the cooling elements) or being affected by temperature changes from the door openings.  It is normal for temperatures to fluctuate inside the cabin due to the cooling/defrost cycles. It should not vary by too much, but the bins will always be about 2 degrees cooler than the main compartment.  However, if you think your fridge thermostat is defective, get service on it.  If you are concerned about your refrigerated medicine, you can get one of those personal mini fridges, just for your medicine.  You know, like those cute little beverage refrigerators that hold a six pack.  They usually cost less than $50 and will keep your meds completely separate from your food.
