I have had the above refrigerator for 9 months in a brand new home that was just built (I.e. no existing mold). Found black mold in top of pitcher in the spout and around the gasket. I just cleaned out the pitcher with soap, water and vinegar and am letting this dry. The pitcher is used multiple times per day. What is cause of this? I have seen this reported by another person and I’m concerned.

Hi there! I can definitely understand your concern with finding mold in your pitcher. Mold is caused by high humidity or moisture in the air. Because the auto-fill pitcher is typically filled with water, it needs to be cleaned regularly to prevent things like mold and mildew. I'm providing a link below to our guide on the best cleaning practices for our refrigerators. Alternatively, you can also purchase a replacement pitcher through SamsungParts.com or by calling 1-800-627-4368.

I am writing to demand action be taken to regarding my Samsung refrigerator.  I discovered BLACK MOLD IN THE PITCHER.  I have video and pictures to illustrate the harmful deadly mold inside.  The refrigerator ice maker is also broken for the second time and the water pitcher leaks.  I am mortified by the Black Mold contaminating my refrigerator and water that I drink and also I contribute this  to greatly impacted my health issues for the past year after seeing several specialists. I would like an immediate reply before contacting an attorney.  Model numberRF28R7351SR

Action can only be taken if you contact Samsung.

Also, mold doesn't form on its own. Clean your fridge from time to time to prevent it from happening.
