Kitchen and Family HubSecond 1.6cu Over-the-Range Microwave in 3 years. First one was about six months out of warranty and literally caught on fire and started smoking while cooking potatoes. I replaced this unit with the same model only to have the handle snap off six months after installation.
Following up with Samsung support, I'm now told that Handles are Cosmetic and that no warranty coverage is offered. Looking on Amazon, I see many aftermarket solutions suggesting that this is a very common problem. Looking at the part, one can see that the plastic threads on the handle have no chance of providing long term reliable service, particularly on an over the stove model that people will clearly need to reach Up to operate.
Staying with TVs, but IMHO, appliances, at least refrigerators and microwaves continue to suffer with poor design and reliability issues.
