I'm doing kitchen reno and our brand new Samsung cooktop cracked during installation. My contractor called Samsung and they said there is no warranty or help of any kind to get this replaced. We will have to throw away and buy another one. I'm Very disappointed, is that really accurate? Thanks.

Kitchen and Family Hub@rlwebb IME, damage during installation is for the installer, or their company, to remedy.
If you are having a stone countertop installed and the installer breaks it, the installer would need to replace it.

Kitchen and Family HubSorry, but I’m confused your contractor broke the cooktop during installation so yeah that wouldn’t be covered under warranty since that’s not a manufacturer defect. If you purchase it from a home appliance retailer you could check if you could return it.

Kitchen and Family HubThanks for your reply, apparently the item is extremely fragile and broke too easily, which is a kind of defect.

Kitchen and Family HubThanks for replying, the installer is a friend of mine so I would not ask him to pay for it. Again we feel the product is too fragile, and if the outcome necessitates rebuy I would not choose Samsung.

Kitchen and Family HubI’m sorry, but the only solution would be for your contractor / friend to replace it. They were the ones who broke it while trying to install it, and most contractors are supposed to have insurance for this reason.

Kitchen and Family HubSo, you hired a friend to do the installation to save some money, the product got damaged and now you have to spend more money to replace the product. Not much of a savings there. If you are unwilling to see that it was contractor error and won't ask him to replace the cooktop, that's entirely on you. There's a reason they say not to hire friends or relatives. Would you have asked a contractor who was not a friend to replace it?
